The New Bentley Mulsanne

The New Bentley Mulsanne

Bentley Motors has announced more details of its all-new flagship motorcar, the Bentley Mulsanne, following successful debuts at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August 2009 and Frankfurt's IAA motor show in September 2009. More than 1,000 private customer previews of Bentley Mulsanne have been held at the company's factory in Crewe, England as well as a series of preview events held at dealerships across the UK, Continental Europe and the United States.

Audi Confirms 2011 Model Year Range Pricing

Audi TT Coupe

With effect from Tuesday 25th May 2010, retail prices for most models within the UK Audi range will increase as a result of prevailing currency exchange rates. Their impact has necessitated an average rise of around two per cent, which in some cases will be partially offset by specification improvements.

ew customer orders placed up to, and including, 24th May 2010 will be fixed at currently advertised 2010 Model Year prices.
Among the core models in the Audi range, the three-door Audi A3 and five-door Audi A3 Sportback hatchbacks are subject to an increase of 1.9 per cent, the Audi A4 Saloon and Avant rise by 2.4 per cent (in SE form) and the Audi A6 Saloon and Avant by 2.0 per cent.
Audi A5 Sportback, Coupe and Cabriolet models increase by 2.5 per cent, 2.4 per cent and 2.2 per cent, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 by 2.0 per cent and 0.6 per cent, Audi TT Coupe and Roadster by 0.9 per cent and Audi R8 V8 and V10 by 3.0 per cent. Recently announced prices for the Audi A1 hatchback, the Audi R8 Spyder, the Audi RS 5 Coupe and the Audi A8 remain as before.
In a number of cases the increases go hand-in-hand with improvements. The Audi TT range, for example, has been visually enhanced for the 2011 Model Year, and features a newly introduced and significantly more efficient Turbo FSI petrol engine and recuperation technology that boosts economy virtually across the board. The Audi Q5 adds an engine start-stop system for four-cylinder models that also works in favour of improved fuel economy, and the Audi Q7 is revitalised by even more frugal new petrol and TDI engines and a new eight-speed tiptronic transmission.

Audi Launches Augmented Reality Technology For The Audi A1

New Audi A1 Using Augmented Reality

Followers of the eagerly anticipated Audi A1 compact hatchback are now free to explore miniaturised 3D 'virtual' versions of the car in near 'photo real' quality in Audi Centres across the country, and even at home, long before the first full size cars hit showrooms.

Bringing to life the next best thing to the 'physical' Audi A1, the first examples of which will reach the UK in the autumn, the innovative 'Augmented Reality' web-based recognition technology enables customers to interact with a 3D 'photo-real' version of the car. Users simply hold up a special 'MagicSymbol' printed in the Audi A1 brochure or downloadable from the internet, and the technology recognises this and merges an Audi A1 model into real footage in real-time. The technology has been developed by interactive 3D content specialist Inition, and is delivered via touch screen installations positioned in every Audi Centre.
The campaign is supported by an online version which enables users to download the application at home, print out the 'MagicSymbol' and use a webcam to interact with the Audi A1. Users can rotate the car, expand or contract it, roll it forwards and backwards and pan right into the interior by simply moving the magic symbol pad in relation to the web cam.
The technology will enable customers to get a real 'feel' for the Audi A1, which has been designed to deliver all that the Vorsprung durch Technik brand stands for in a concentrated form. The more compact and city-friendly three-door premium hatchback benefits from the same world renowned quality standards, sophisticated design details and leading edge technological advances found throughout the Audi range. SE, Sport and S line versions became available for UK order on 6th May 2010 priced at between £13,145 OTR and £18,280 OTR, and the first examples will reach Audi Centres in October 2010.
Inside, as out, the look and feel of the Audi A1 uses larger Audi models as a template, and it also employs much of their on-board technology. This includes the latest, ultra-efficient TDI and TFSI engines backed up by start-stop and recuperation systems, state-of-the-art ESP with a new electronic differential lock and convenience features such as the optional Multi Media Interface (MMI) infotainment system.

Audi A4 Review

Audi A4 Review

The Audi A4 that arrived in the car park wasn’t the standard, ‘straight out of the box’, A4. It was packed with all the best bits from the extensive options list. Alive with technology? You bet!
All this munificence is nice but it does make our job harder - it’s a wood and trees, thing. I’m not really complaining but I would have been just as happy, safe in the knowledge that Audi’s renowned 3.2FSI engine was under the bonnet. But bristling with electronics that clearly weren’t standard issue, it was; so much so that this report could simply be about the available gizmology.

So, what is standard issue for the £29,340, mid-range, A4 SE saloon? Well, for a start all A4s have halogen daytime running lights, fog lights front and rear, 17-inch alloys, climate control, a space-saving electromechanical parking brake via a switch on the central tunnel, powered and heated door mirrors, an Audi Chorus audio system comprising a single CD/MP3/radio with a 6.5-inch, monochrome display, 6 speakers (80 Watts) and a nice feeling of well being, amongst other things.
The SE adds automatic headlights and wipers and Audi’s Concert audio system with a colour screen and ten speakers (180W), 3-zone climate control so the rear passengers have a say in their environment and aluminium trims inside and out, some with a holographic effect.
The standard S-line is a much sportier car with larger, 18-inch alloys, lowered sports suspension, part-leather upholstery and body-styling including exclusive bumper designs.
Bearing in mind the price of the standard SE, the total test-car price totted up to £42,260 giving an indication of just how many options were on board. Some of it was taken up by the very nice Liquid Blue metallic paintwork (£550) and £1,290 for the light grey Milano leather upholstery.

Audi Q5 Review

The Audi Q5

Audi Q5 Review

The day that Audi celebrated its 100th birthday was also the day that the Audi Q5 arrived. It is the latest SUV from the German manufacturer and younger sibling to the mighty Audi Q7.

Thankfully, the Audi Q5 bears all of the hallmarks of its big brother but isn't quite as brutish but still bullishly distinctive, nonetheless. It must be a matter of scale because the smaller Audi Q5 appears to be almost exactly the same as the Audi Q7, perhaps a little more car-like and, unless they stood side by side, the only noticeable difference is in the large front air intakes that flank the imposing trapezoidal grille, which have more rounded edges.
Smaller than the Audi Q7 it may be, but size is relative and at just over 4.6 metres in length, almost 1.9 metres wide and standing some 1.6 metres tall, the Audi Q5 is by no means small. What is more, the 2.1 metre wheelbase is said to be the longest in its class. This has been made possible by moving the differential forward of the clutch, which in real terms, means more cabin space.
The Audi Q5 also has class-leading aerodynamics and boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.33, which is surprising given the somewhat squared-off front end. However, the bonnet and body contours and design lines, along with the rake of the windscreen, allows the air to flow over and around the car and even strong side-winds don't pose too much of a problem.
Compared to the hefty Audi Q7, the Audi Q5 offers a choice of smaller engines: 2.0TDI and 3.0TDI V6 are the diesels and the petrol options are the acclaimed 3.2FSI and the 2.0TFSI.
The Audi Q5 test car housed the smaller petrol unit, which, with the help of TFSI technology, produces 211PS between 4,300- and 6,000rpm and 350Nm from as low down as 1,500 rpm and doesn't start to tail off until 4,200rpm is reached. These are diesel-like figures and as such, an advantage when towing or off-roading.
FSI stands for Fuel Stratified Ignition, which is a way of making the engine do more for less fuel; it was first developed for the Le Mans 24-hour race and now we all have the benefit of the technology. TFSI adds an exhaust turbocharger, allowing a 0-62mph time of just 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 137mph.

Cool Concept Car - Cadillac Sixteen

Here's a concept car for you from Cadillac. Introducing the 13.6-Liter 1000-horsepower v16 Cadillac Sixteen. Yes, I said v16! Whoa! Very impressive.

Cool Concept Car - Cadillac Sixteen

A click of the remote will open the doors to this masterpiece. The sixteen does not include door handles. The interior of the sixteen consists of leather, polished walnut and aluminum and not to mention the thick carpet made of silk. Leather power adjusted bucket seats scream "cool car!." The electronic speedometer is center mounted in the dash. To start, press the brake and push the green button on the right side of the steering wheel.

Cool Concept Car - Cadillac Sixteen

The transmission only has 4 gears, but you will most likely only feel 2 shifts during your drive. The suspension includes 4-wheel steering. The stock wheels sit twenty four inches. Amazing as it sounds...this concept car was put into production.

The 2008 Audi TT 3.2 Quattro Roadster

This ride is definitely a cool car that will bring the ladies. After all, it does kind of look like a ladies car ;) Hehe. Although it's a sports car, it seems the test results show that it isn't that great of a sports car. The cloth top model will turn heads. It takes roughly twelve seconds to fold down the top. Aluminum trip surrounding powerful gages looks beautiful (sorry we don't have any shots of the inside). The engine is a 200 horsepower 3.2 liter v6. Sadly the 2.0 turbo only comes in front wheel drive (dual clutch trans). All 3.2 models have a Quattro all wheel drive and offers a S tonic or a regular 6 speed manual. Audi Shark - A Cool Concept Car!

The Audi Shark is a cool futuristic flying concept vehicle with a streamlined design inspired by motorcycles and airplanes. It was designed by Kazim Doku and won the Desire Competition by Domus Academy.

Hover cars always looked cool on Star Wars and Star Trek. But the Audi Shark looks even better than that! This magnificent baby is devised by designer Kazim Doku, who is known to have redesigned Audi’s usual sleek stylings into a flying sportscar for the Desire Design Competition by the Italian Domus Academy.

I’m guessing the two-seater shark uses compressed air mechanism or high powered fans and the Console is placed between the legs, which might seem a little shoddy for some. But then again, there is a fine distinction between a Hovercar and a Sports car, so it ought to be compact in its design. It will look comfortable on a Sci-Fi set, but we’ve had enough of that. It’s time we grab one for ourselves!

Volvo V50

In Volvo nomenclature, "V" stands for "versatile." Versatility is great, but as the departed V40 wagon proved, it says nothing about excitement -- not when the other elements in the mix are drab sheet metal and mediocre performance. The Volvo V50 was conceived to replace this less-than-memorable small wagon, and it improves on the formula by offering more style and the opportunity for greater performance.

The compact V50 has been dubbed a "sport wagon" by Volvo. With its bulging fenders and grooved hood, this Volvo looks, dare we say, ripped. And it lives up to the "sport" part through its sharp handling and sprightly acceleration -- as long as you opt for the turbocharged engine, that is. With that turbo under its hood, the Volvo V50 feels nimble and brisk. Alas, the V50's normally aspirated base engine is far less impressive.

Still, with either power plant, this upscale small wagon is enjoyable on the inside, offering a design that's as ergonomically correct as it is distinctive. There are also plenty of safety features, with a lineup that includes side-impact and head curtain airbags, active head restraints and optional built-in booster seats for children. Combine all this with the utility offered by the available all-wheel drive, and Volvo's V50 distinguishes itself as providing plenty of "V" without being boring to drive or own.

Volvo XC90

Volvo does things a little differently from other premium brands in

the automotive world. For this Swedish manufacturer, safety and

kid-friendliness are just as important as luxury amenities and driving

performance, and in no vehicle is this more apparent than the

Volvo XC90, a midsize seven-passenger SUV.

Innovative safety features aside, the XC90 is merely adequate relative

to the premium midsize SUV competition. Zestier performance is available

elsewhere, as are more cavernous cargo holds. With more and more

modern competitors measuring up to Volvo's high safety standards,

the aging XC90 isn't the slam dunk for families that Volvo products

used to be. It remains capable, though, and arguably safer than ever

thanks to some new tricks.

Current Volvo XC90

The Volvo XC90 is available in two versions: 3.2 and V8. Available

with front- or all-wheel drive, the 3.2 is the entry-level model and

carries a 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine rated for 235 horsepower.

Mileage suffers a bit on the XC90 V8, but the 311-hp 4.4-liter V8

provides strong acceleration, moving this 4,600-pound SUV

to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds. All-wheel drive is standard with the V8.

The 3.2 comes with five-passenger seating (with the third-row

seat optional), while the V8 comes with seven-passenger seating.

As this is a premium SUV, almost all major safety and convenience

features are included, even on the base model. Major options

include a rear entertainment system with dual screens, a DVD-based

navigation system, a Dolby Pro Logic II surround-sound audio

system and an interior air quality system, as well as an ultra-luxurious

executive package for the V8 model.

Easily one of the safest SUVs on the market, the Volvo XC90

pioneered Roll Stability Control. This bit of technology uses

a gyro sensor to identify every SUV owner's greatest fear,

a potential rollover, and activates the stability control

system to try to avert it. Another interesting feature is the

Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), which monitors

images from a pair of cameras mounted in the side mirrors

and warns the driver via an indicator light when another

vehicle moves into the XC90's blind spot. Of course, the

XC90 also provides staples like side curtain airbag protection

for all three rows, anti-whiplash seats and an emergency

communications system. Volvo crash safety is legendary,

and indeed, this midsize SUV has scored well in NHTSA

and IIHS testing.

In reviews, we've found that the XC90 drives just as

you'd expect a safe, heavy Volvo SUV to drive. Ride quality

is smooth and the cabin stays quiet, while handling is competent

but not particularly sporty. Equipped with AWD, the XC90 makes

an excellent snow vehicle but isn't intended for serious off-road romps.

V8-powered models are considerably more satisfying to drive

than six-cylinder XC90s.

Despite its advancing age, the seven-passenger Volvo XC90 is one

of our top recommendations for families shopping for an SUV.

Although its on-road performance is merely average as luxury

SUVs go, the XC90 still offers a winning combination of safety,

solidity and style.

Used Volvo XC90 Models

The XC90 debuted for the 2003 model year. Changes have

been limited over the years. The V8 joined the fray in 2005,

while the 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine debuted in 2007 as a

replacement for the 208-hp, 2.5-liter turbocharged inline five-cylinder

(known as the 2.5T) offered through 2006. Used XC90 shoppers

will also come across T6 models (sold from 2003-'05), which had a

268-hp, twin-turbocharged, 2.8-liter inline six-cylinder. Although

acceleration was adequate with either of these turbo engines, their

power bands really weren't well suited for duty in a heavy SUV.

However, if you test-drive a used XC90 T6 or 2.5T and find its

performance to your liking, there's no reason not to buy it.
